Participatory filmmaking process developed in a school in Barcelona. Students and audiovisual professionals collectively produced a film on intercultural coexistence, using cinema as a tool to reflect on diversity and everyday experiences within the educational setting and the neighborhood.

Challenge:

Urban schools bring together a great cultural diversity that is rarely addressed through creative processes of collective reflection. Although young people interact daily with this diversity, they have few spaces to express their experiences. The challenge was to initiate a pedagogical process that allowed them to explore these realities from their own perspectives.

Proposal:

The project promoted the collective creation of a film within the school, combining audiovisual learning with participatory dynamics. Students and professionals worked together on scriptwriting, acting, and production, integrating both fiction and documentary. The process allowed for exploring narratives about living in diversity and also involved the educational community, creating a shared space for creation, learning, and intercultural dialogue.
